About Department
Founded in 1962, the Department of English functioned in the Arts Block (now BJB H S wing) until 2019 when it was relocated to the New Arts Block, Ground Floor Room-N-07. It has a spacious Staff Room, 3 large classrooms, a dedicated Seminar Library and a Language Lab. The department has 9 sanctioned faculty positions for 64 UG seats and 32 PG seats.

The teaching-learning process attempts to foster critical thinking through a combination of traditional lectures, interactive discussions, and application of modern technology. The language lab caters for all ability groups. The department library supplements the classroom teaching with authentic learning resources. The department follows a learner- centered approach through project work, weekly seminars, annual conferences, extra-mural lectures and annual study tours.
