Rovers & Rangers

OVERVIEW

Introduction:

The Scout and Guide unit is a Voluntary, non- political, educational Movement for young people, open to all without distinction of origin, race or creed, in accordance with the purpose, principles and method conceived by the founder Lord Baden Powell in 1907. This unit is recognised as Rovers (for boys)& Rangers unit(for girls) at college level.

Objectives:

  1. To practice national integration.
  2. To develop personality through community services.
  3. To engage themselves in creative and constructive social work.
  4. To work with and among people.
  5. To gain leadership skills.
  6. To enable students to have ethical sense.

Activities:

The Rovers and Rangers unit B.J.B autonomous college is organising many activities.

2022-2023

  1. A walkathon was organised on 6th January 2023, on the eve of forth coming world cup Hockey,2023. More than 200 students along the faculties members joined in this event.
  2. An intellectual talk is being organised on 12 th january2023, in BJB Autonomous college. The Rovers and Rangers unit along with Mo college, YRC, NSS and NCC wings of college joined together to observe National Youth Day on the theme “Vikshit yuva-Vikshit Bharat”. Retd.Prof. Premananda Mohapatra, President, Odisha Sahitya Bhasakosa, Bhubaneswar was the chief speaker of the function.
  3. A free Dental Check up camp was organised 24.02.2023 by all the extension unit of B.J.B autonomous college with Hitech Dental College Hospital, Bhubaneswar.
  4. A lecture was organised on the same day (24.02.2023) by all the extension units along with Rovers and Rangers of B.J.B autonomous college on the message of G-20 presidency and motto of “Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam” to spread the awareness on environment protection and conservation through out country.
  5. A Plantation Programme was organised on 22.07.2023 in association with YRC, NSS and NCC, Rovers and Rangers, and Mo college wings of BJB autonomous More than 50 students along with principal and vice principal of our college have actively taken part in this programme.

2021-2022

  1. A Mega Blood Donation Camp planned by Odisha State Bharat Scout &Guide to held during Covid-19 pandemic 26 th August 2021. R&R volunteers and their Parents were motivated to Participate.
  2. “Vigilance Sensitization Meeting” in Our College was organised and we had taken Part in the “Integrity Pledge” on 1 st November 2021.
  3. All India radio Cuttack wanted to conduct on a Debate competition on the topic “Make in India” in odia language as part of AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOSTAV celebration.

 A Preliminary Debate Competition Was Conducted on The Topic “Make in India “by R&R unit.

The Following Rovers and Rangers were selected to appear in the final Round of Debate Competition.

The final competition was held on 10th March 2022 in the college. The first prize was awarded to Debi Prasad Rath, a student of Hindi honours.

  1. Rovers and rangers unit conducted an “Awareness Programme on Health and Hygiene “in Krushnaprasad block of Ambapadia village on 20th April 2022. Around 30 students participated in this programme. This was carried among the school students along with the villagers.

  

  1. Blood Donation Campus was organized on 28 th May 2022 in BJB Autonomous college Rovers and Rangers unit along with Mo college, YRC, NSS and NCC wings of college were participated in this programme. Total 80 units of blood were collected by the team consisting seven members from Odisha Blood Centre, capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar.
  2. An international Yoga Day was celebrated on 21 st June 2022with the other extension unit of BJB autonomous college. Mr. Bidyadhar Jena, Yoga Pravari Yoga Kendra of Khordha district was the chief guest of this programme.

  7.An Awareness programme was organised by Rovers and Rangers unit along with other extension unit of college on the eve of international Day against Drugs Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on 25 th June 2022.Total 83 students along with faculty members of different departments have attended the programme.

  1. A poster painting competition was held on 29 th July 2022 with the other extension unit of BJB autonomous college on the theme “catch the rain”.Around 32 students participated in this competition.
  1. A road rally was organized on 13 th August 2022 from BJB Basket Ball Ground. It was to observe “Har Ghar Triranga “under AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOSTAV by R & R unit along with other Extension unit of BJB Autonomous College.
  • 2020-21
  1. Volunteers of Rangers and Rovers were urged to participate in a webinar organized by AIIMS, Bhubaneswar, Research Centre for Tobacco, Chandigarh, DEPARTMENT OF WEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE AND DEPARTMENT OF HIGHER EDUCATION ODISHA ON 20 th November 2020.
  2. Four Boy Students and Eight Girl Students from +3 Arts, Science, Commerce had enrolled themselves as the Members of this Unit in 2021.
  3. International Women’s Day –observed by NSS in collaboration with R &R unit within the campus on 8 th March 2021. Volunteers of R &R were motivated to participate in the celebration.
  4. NSS unit in collaboration with R &R organized a webinar on “Awareness Programme on Fighting the second Wave of Covid 19 pandemic” on 24 th May 2021. R&R volunteers were urged to participate

Due to pandemic situation the institution was closed and classes were taken online. In the absence of physical presence of student, no more activities were undertaken by R&R unit.
