OVERVIEW

Aim:

The aims of YRC are (a) Promotion of health and hygiene (b) Service to others (c) World Friendliness

The Fundamental Principles:

The Youth Red Cross shall function on the Fundamental Principles of the International

Red Cross movement which are as follows :

* Humanity * Impartiality * Independence * Voluntary Service * Unity * Universality

Motto:

“To serve”

Objectives:

The objectives of Youth Red Cross (Odisha) shall be to train the “zealous” Youth, in the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross, so that they may remain “imperturbable, unwearying, unflattering” and develop in them the elements of “quiet self-sacrifice” when disasters strike humanity. Keeping this in view the YRC shall endeavour as follows, for

  1. Promotion of potentialities of the Youth to enable them to render skilled philanthropic service toned up by a sense of self-sacrifice, for the mitigation of suffering of the needy and the distressed;
  2. Promotion of health, hygiene and sanitation and cognate subjects among the members of the community for prevention of disease and mitigation of suffering;
  3. Promotion of motivations among the youth for fostering friendship and fraternity) at the national and international level;
  4. Promotion of qualities of leadership and traits of personality among the youth; e) Promotion of the spirit of self-reliance and dignity of labour among the youth; f) Promotion of training in various skills to render qualified service to the needy;g) Promotion of factors which may contribute to the establishment of peace at the national and international level.

  • 2021-22

A brief description of YRC Activities during the session 2021-22 is given below.

 

  1. A meeting was held on 11.09.2021 on the occasion of World First Aid Day in IRCS, Odisha Branch. Five YRC volunteers and Counselor Dr. Sadhana Satapathy attended the programme.
  2. Cluster level YRC study cum training camp was held in the premises of our College on 07.09.2021, 08.09.2021 and 10.09.2021. Twenty seven volunteers from three colleges participated in this camp.
  3. Disaster Preparedness Awareness Programme was conducted by IRCS,Odisha Branch on 29.10.2021. Five YRC volunteers of our College along with Counselor Dr.Sadhana Satapathy attended the programme.
  4. IRCS, Odisha State Branch organized a training programme under the scheme “Project Rakshak” to train volunteers to meet emergency situations. Counselor Dr.Sadhana Satapathy attended the programme as Resource Person for first aid.
  5. AIDS Awareness Programme was conducted by IRCS, Odisha State Branch on 01.12.2021 on the occasion of World AIDs Day. Three volunteers and Counselor Dr. Sadhana Satapathy attended the programme.
  6. Volunteers of YRC participated in the Social Services and First Aid Services Camp held in the premises of Lingaraj Temple on the occasion of Maha Shiva Ratri on 01.03. 2022.
  7. Debi Prasad Rath, YRC volunteer attended the International Webinar organized by Australian Red Cross 22.03.2022.
  8. In order to create awareness on AIDS, YRC volunteers of our College painted Umbrellas for Odisha State AIDS Control Society(OSCAS) ON 22.03.2022.
  9. YRC volunteers of our College and Counselor Smt.Lekha Das attended a programme organized by IRCS,Odisha State Branch on 07.04.2022 on the occasion of World Health Day.
  10. YRC unit of our college conducted a First Aid Workshop for the boarders of Karubaki Ladies Hostel on 12.04.2022. Twenty Five hostel boarders received training on First Aid. Dr. Bikash Prasad, Master Trainer, First Aid and Dr. Sadhana Satapathy, Lay Lecturer, First Aid were the Resource Persons of the Work shop. YRC Couselor of our college Smt.Lekha Das coordinated the programme.
  11. N.Soumik and Vishal Parija, YRC volunteers of our college attended Rajiv Gandhi Prativa Samman Samaroha held in Jayadev Bhawan on 21.05.2022.
