Overview
About Department
The Department of Law has been established under B.J.B Autonomous College, Bhubaneswar on 26th November 2022 and is running at 6th floor, New Arts Block, B.J.B. Autonomous College, Bhubaneswar. The Department started its official functioning under the guidance and vision of Madhusudan Law University, Cuttack. The department boasts 10 well-equipped classrooms designed to provide an optimal learning environment for students. The Department itself has its Moot Court Hall, Seminar Hall, Legal Aid Centre, Boys Common Room, Girls Common Room and Lavatory for Boys, Girls and Staffs with a suitable environment to facilitate Legal Education. One of the key highlights of the department is its well-resourced Law Library, which is furnished with a spacious reading room. The library offers a comprehensive collection of textbooks, reference materials, and a variety of law journals, catering to both undergraduate and postgraduate students. The rich collection encourages students to engage in deep research and expand their knowledge beyond the classroom.
Sanctioned Faculty and Student Intake- The Department is staffed by a dedicated team of legal educators, with a sanctioned faculty strength of 3 posts.
Department of Law is dedicated to achieve excellence in educating professionals, serving the public and fostering Justice. We aspire to prepare lawyers to serve their clients, the judicial system and the public with a high level of accomplishment and a commitment to the highest ideals of the Legal Profession. We strive to provide students with a well-rounded Legal Education. We ensure to transform our students by boosting their morale, harnessing their energy & moulding them into competent jurists.
- To inculcate cultural, legal and ethical values with a view to foster the Rule of Law and the objectives enshrined in the Constitution of India.
- To raise legal awareness in the community for a greater social and economic justice. To combine quality education with necessary input of practical training.
- To advance and disseminate knowledge of Law and to inculcate strong research attitude in the students with a view to ensure its proper role in National Development.
- To prepare lawyers of tomorrow for handling legal issues not only restricted to the national boundaries but globally as well, by developing legal skills in core areas such as Business Laws, Intellectual Property Rights, Cyber Laws and Trade Laws.
- To increase Legal awareness in the community and further the cause of social justice by providing Legal aid to the sections of the society.
- To develop in students and research scholars a sense of responsibility to serve the society by developing skills in advocacy, Judicial and other Legal Services.

This syllabus has been designed on Choice Based Credit System as per the guidelines provided by University Grant Commission and the Curriculum Development Centre of U.G.C. This LL.M. Programme is projected to train future researchers and the students to enquire and also to explore about the legal frame work of the contemporary society.
This syllabus (on Choice Based Credit System) for Master of Laws (LL.M.) examination consists of four semesters. The 1st Semester shall cover the period from July to December and 2nd Semester from January to June during the first academic session. Similarly, the 3rd Semester shall commence from July to December and 4th Semester from January to June of the second academic session.
